In the “Responding to Christian Nationalism” Symposium, Dr Stephen Backhouse speaks on “Black Magic in White Houses: Resisting the Power of Religious Nationalism” at The Wellbeing Hub in St Helier.
In this session, Dr Backhouse unpacks how ideology and tribal identity can take on the language of the sacred - in a way that amounts to a kind of dark magic.
Dr. Backhouse is a world expert in Political Philosophy and in the work of Søren Kierkegaard - the Danish Philosopher whose critique of Christendom in the 19th Century resounds louder than ever in the present climate.
